My dad is 78 and he'd started skipping Sunday dinners because sitting through a whole meal on our dining chairs wore him out.
I figured he was just slowing down. Then I actually asked him, and it was the chairs. Hard seats, and after twenty minutes he couldn't get comfortable no matter how he sat.
We got him one of these honeycomb cushions with the cutout at the back. One for his recliner, then a second one that lives in the car.
Last month he sat through my son's whole football game without asking to leave once. On the drive home he said it was the first time in ages he forgot about the seat.
If your parent has quietly started skipping things, it might be worth asking why.
